Meet my new Vagabond 47, Raven

This video shows how badly they had to pull apart the boat to truck her from Los Angeles to Seattle.

Its a lovely boat Chris............... a little work and will be sparkling.
I used to get upset at thing like this but in the event I look on it as a chance to get it how I want it.........

Nice boat! I love Ted's boats. Looks in nice shape. Think of it as an opportunity to rebed the pulpit/pushpit, davits I guess!
I've seen a chainsaw taken to remove the fly bridge on big power boats for trucking so ... your ordeal wasn't so bad!

I did not mean to make it sound like I was complaining. It's going to be a lot of work to put things back to together, but I enjoy working on boats.

I think William Garden designed the Vagabond 47, so wouldn't it be Bill's boats?

Sorry, I thought that was a Ted Brewer design...

Hi new neighbor! I'm on the end of your dock.

Thanks! Come by and say hi. As you can see, I'll be spending a lot of time on G dock. Do you still have the Nauticat?

i believe ted designed the 42 which is a completely different boat in every respect and not even same family, as is made by mickelson. they are gorgeous, but not anywhere near the same.

According to this, George Stadel designed the Vagabond 42.

I do not know if this is accurate.

The 42 certainly is much more rare than the 47. I've never seen one.

Re: Meet my new Vagabond 47, Raven

I was aboard a nicely set up Vagabond 47 several years ago and was impressed. Yours looks like she's basically in very good shape even before you begin putting things all back together and then you'll have a VERY comfy and nice looking cruiser. Love that clipper bow! Another advantage to trucking it up and doing the refit yourself is that by the time you're finished you'll know every system and where every wire and every hose goes and why, but if you had paid for a refit and sailed it up, there would be many things that you'd really have no reason to explore so wouldn't know your boat as well as you soon will. Enjoy the process, can't wait to see the "after" video!

Re: Meet my new Vagabond 47, Raven

Thanks! I really wanted to sail Raven back to Seattle, but it had some relatively minor issues to correct that would required taking the mast down. I figured that if the mast has to come down I might as well truck it. I plan on putting out a video every month or so. Stay tuned.
