Hello,
I was hoping to get input from people who have sailed the Mason 53/54. Recognizing that she is
full keel with a cutaway forefoot, am not expecting her to turn like a more modern design, but any input on how well she tacks, especially in a chop would be a big help to me. I have sailed
full keel (and some separated keel/rudder boats as well) boats that hold their way through tacks and are very controllable, while others lose almost all of their speed and
rudder control through a tack in even flat
water which would be unacceptable to me. I have read that this design is capable of 200+ mile days under the right conditions, can anyone back up that claim? Any other input appreciated! Thanks, James
