Try

Avalon Marine center— 08202.

currents are entertaining. but it is managed and owned by sailors, notwithstanding the observation that you are in power boat land Been there three years—good people

This location would make my wife very happy. Can one transit this inlet reliably with a 6 foot draft? Can you share the approximate bridge opening schedule?

thanks

Pretty sure 6’ draft is not an issue. Re inside—Make sure you are looking at the ‘new’ charts, NOAA issued an update 6 months or so ago. IIRC per the old charts we had been sailing over a shoal that was dry at low tide for several years... And the inlet itself sb fine. Probably 10’ controlling depth or better. Just pay attention to the inlet bouys inside the jetty. And I don’t recommend it on a nor’easter.

The bridge opens on demand 24/7.

Primary issues relate to timing the tides to get in and out of slip — closer to slack the better.

There are a couple of other marinas in Avalon (commodore. ?) and sea isle that have sailboats. I believe the ones ‘further’ removed from the icw are less affected by the current.

South Jersey Marina,, albeit expensive, is a very nice and professional marina

Another vote for South Jersey Marina - one of the best on the east coast we experienced on our trip from Palm Beach to Maine last spring.

We have stayed at Utsch's Marina in Cape May. Nice people but cannot speak to what depth it offers. Being able to walk to the Lobster House is a plus!

Re: Marinas in south jersey

Have a Cal 39 requires 5-1/2ft kept it at Avalon point Marina for 3 years now called Avalon Marine Center. There is a strong current and they will only put sailboats on the outside T docks which works well for getting in and out. It is a no wake zone but other boats forget once in a while. 6ft should be fine for the inlet. The bridge may get to be a challenge as the beach on the Sea Isle side is very close to the lift part of the bridge. I think it is still OK as it hasn't changed in the past few years.
Also stayed at Farley Marina in Atlantic city for several years which was fine but expensive. The canyon Club in Cape May was very shallow the last time I was there and 6ft may be a problem in the marina and getting to it. I have been to South Jersey Marine numerous times on deliveries and had some emergency work done there which was fine. I Don't know what slips cost but may be expensive. Only been to Utsch's once for fuel and is could be a challenge getting to the marina and also inside with 6ft. I'm currently think about Seaview Point Marina in Longport. I spent more than 20 years living in Avalon and tried to get the boat closer to home.
