Looking for Wittholz Designs

I trying with very little luck to track down the plans for a boat I am investigating, a 47.5 FT Steel Hull, ketch rigged, sailboat. Does anyone know where to contact Mr. Wittholz widow by chance? I found the builder, plans long since disappeared, builder out of the building business. I found the hull number, but it isn't leading me many places. The boat is in need of re-powering due to zero maintenance over the years so want to investigate replacing the diesel with a hybrid electric system.

Re: Looking for Wittholz Designs

I have a Wittholz 39' cutter and have a set of line drawings that came with my boat. Was your boat built in either North or South Carolina? My hull was built in Canada by Kanter Yachts. I can have a set of drawing, 3 or 4 sheets possible made if those would help. Kanter Yachts is still building boats. I would love to see photos of your boat both inside and out.
My boat is powered by a Yanmar 52hp diesel. Weight is approximately 26000 lbs. I would guess you will need at least 80 hp or more to move in weather.

Gord, I'm sure you have heard this many times but you are a life saver indeed, thank you so much. Now to do something I haven't done in decades, write a letter.

Re: Looking for Wittholz Designs

Thank you, but I'm looking for just that particular boat. And I'm thinking a 100 horse would do better. Not that I expect to get her up on plane, but better a little to much that you don't use, than not enough trying to claw off a lee shore. We are still in the investigative stage of things, as the thought of buying what is nearly a hulk is rather disconcerting to say the least.
