Looking for builder

I am currently working on a design for a 54' monohull in Aluminum for world crusing. I would like to take the design to a number of different builders for pricing. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone would have. i am on the east coast USA but am not concerned in having it built in my back yard.

Suggestions?

Architect first.

No matter how good your design skills, you need to bring it to a naval architect first. If you *are* a naval architect, you need to bring it to a neutral naval architect first. (Lawyers don't act as lawyers for themselves, doctors don't operate on themselves...)

A naval architect can also suggest good yards for custom one-off builds in various materials. With a custom build, you might want to look at a port rather than a specific builder - someplace which is acessible for you, and has a well respected industry of custom boat building. (On the North American west coast, that immediately suggests Port Townsend, megayacht ground zero with lots of services.)

If NZ isn't too far away I know a really good, as in world class, boatbuilder/designer here suffering because of the economic downturn, he's been offered work out of the country but would prefer to stay. Advantages: the NZ dollar is around 50c US, you could come down here to start your cruise (or I'll deliver it if you prefer)

If that's not out of the question email me editor@crew.org.nz and I'll put you in touch.
