that's why you have the mizzen mast and sail to balance the boat.

You forget when the boat heels the CE moves to leeward and gives weather helm. How much depends how much you heel. To counter too much weather helm the CE must be a bit (5 to10 %) forward of the CLR. A ketch can adjust the CE back and forth easily by it's more longitudinally widespread sail plan.

Hi, I just experienced this very thing. Are you saying I should be able to adjust the sails so I don't get tired pulling the tiller to me for hours? The boat was heeled over as far as I have had it, but continually wanted to come into the wind. Do I tighten the jib, loose the mizzen? What about the main. I was on a beam reach.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. But WOW! sailing is so much more fun with actual wind!

loosen the mizzen would be one way... or douse it. If that doesn't work reef the main also.
