Lewmar Folding HelmWheel

Hello Everyone
I have a Jeanneau 32 Sun Odyssey Yr 2000 and cockpit space is tight when. We are looking to install a Lewmar Folding Helm Wheel.

Does anyone know if these just bolt straight on to the existing helm connection or if there is some other work that needs to be completed.

Also, if you have any feedback regarding this helm, that would be great too

Thanks in advance
Glenn

Re: Lewmar Folding HelmWheel

Wheels are mounted onto a keyed shaft, most likely you have a 1" tapered shaft. Undo the wheel nut and simply slide the wheel off. Well maybe not that simple as there is a good chance the wheel will be stuck, some penetrating oil and gentle nudging or even a wheel puller may be needed.

I have had a Lewmar folding wheel for years and it works as advertised.

Once you get the wheel off, just a little grease on the shaft and it will come off very easy, so easy that it may just be worth removing it when you want more room and save the folding wheel money?
I was going to put a mount on the rails for mine, but it's so small and where it is it doesn't free up much room with it off, so I didn't bother, but if it were in the way, I think just removing it would be the ticket.
