Hey Sailor, Whitby are very solid boats and the canadian made ones are the best made. And if you would have bought mine you would not only have a solid boat but ready to go. You should be very happy with your Whitby just try to up date as much as you can with new stuff. Mine is an 1982 and I do have some problems doing repairs because they don't make the older stuff anymore.

Since you already bought it..don't ask!

Good solid boat though.. its condition will all depend on the previous owners, but decent layout, well made.. congrats.

Two sets of close friends had them. Both Canadian. Biggest problem both of them had was them leaking at the hull to deck joints. Both were adequately repaired to exclude the water again. Not much fun while it was happening. Certainly something to look at.

A good freind and his wife have one. And going round the world.

I saw a plug from the hull for a new thru-hull. It was thick, more than an inch, less than an inch and a half but not sure exact measurement.

One problem was an under sole water tank that couldn't be used, or repaired easily. Steel or black iron and rusted out.

Solid boat I think.
