Junk rigged SPRAY

Hi all,
Here is a 3 part professional video of active sailing of several different chinese junk rigged yachts. CHINA CLOUD is the product of genius Allen Farrell, and the program was made on a trip seeking him out.
BERTIE is a modified SPRAY with a huge 1000 square foot main and she's in here a lot. On part 3 of the series is a good bit of footage of her surfing downwind in snarky conditions with no one at the helm.

Hope you enjoy and if you do please tell your friends

Re: Junk rigged SPRAY

I doubt that there are many Allen Farrells left in this world and thats a shame. I`m a big junk rig fan and ithe boasts in the video are works of art. We all could learn alot from how Mr.Farrell has lived his life.

How big is Chuna Moon? Wonder if a 30ft or smaller version is feasible?

There are few people who at age 86 were still collecting Fir bark to fuel the stove off the beach barefoot in the middle of winter. Allen was one of a kind.
CHINA MOON is about 40' and would not really work much smaller. She's pretty light displacement so not as 'big' as some forty footers, and a fairly simple boat to build.

Re: Junk rigged SPRAY

Thanks for sharing. There was a man in the slip next to me who turned his 28 Columbia into a junk rig. He sailed off to Mexico in the late 90's. I believe it is a fascinating rig, and woulod take it into consideration if I was building a boat........i2f

Great video. Native Girl was at the gov't dock at Degnan Bay last year. A young couple had just bought her and were taking her somewhere to do some work. She looked pretty good.
