Islander Freeport Center Cockpit
Hi my first post to the forum and I am hoping the readers out there can help. I am considering a boat for my upcoming retirement with hopes of becoming accomplished enough to sail from the northwest to and winter in Baja.
I would like to hear the opiniions on the Islander Freeport as a coastal cruiser and liveaboard. I would seek one out that has had the teak decks removed professionally as one criteria. Suggestions, thoughts and advice are all welcomed and appreciated. Thanks Randy

Re: Islander Freeport center cockpit
Both the blogs boat and the one I have for sale are Islander Freeport 36B
that 36 B designates it as a 36' boat with a queen size port berth.

Could you share your cruising experiences - where have you been on her? Pluses and minuses of the boat?

Re: Islander Freeport center cockpit
The 36 is a nice design and sails relatively well. The 41 on the other hand is a behemoth monstrosity that does not sail very well.

Re: Islander Freeport center cockpit
Whatever happened to the OP? The 36 is not a center cockpit..... and I've not seen one with teak decks.... I wonder if the OP is confusing with another boat..?
Yeah the 41 was rather unique.... kinda cool "pirate ship" as long as you know it's limitations. If you like to sail to weather then not too great. OTOH, probably sail as well as a cruising cat to weather....

Re: Islander Freeport center cockpit
rodl....only sail a 747 to weather....
i was looking at freeports until i found my formosa. have met many freeport sailors--of the 41s, and they love their boats. even the way in which the boats sail. might want to sal something before you decide to buy -- mebbe boat not suit your sailing style--thenye have to go thru the selling mayhem and it is not a sellers market.
