What do you guys think? I'm thinking yes, but I have no experience in this department.

Let's say I need to, and I can find a bearing here in Grenada, how many beers is it going to take to do this job?

You mean the gap between the brass part and the fiberglass? I'm not sure if I can move it side to side, but I'll check. My guess is yes.

I cant tell anything from that pic. The key is does the shaft move in the bearing up/down or side to side? It should a bit, but not a real lot.

So I called around today, and I'm not sure the right part exists on the island.

The closest I got was a 5 x 1.5 x 1.25 bearing which.. isn't close at all to a 25mm shaft.

The hurricanes have also but a hold on resupply shipments for a little while too, so I might have to order something directly from the states.

Any tips?

I doubt it has anything related to overheating.
Seems like that part ought to exist on Grenada, but Trini would have it.

I called them again, and they actually have one with 1" inner diameter, which would mean 0.015" clearance -- would this be too much?

If I see the pic right? It is time for replacement. It would appear the shaft has significant movement with just thumb pressure. Drink a beer for me.
