Information on 36' Union Cutter...

I am going to go look at a 36' Union Cutter and could use some information before I go. My girlfriend and I are looking for an offshore boat under $45,000. Came across a nice one I think, will find out more from inspection. Research on the web say slow and that soft deck with teak, no surprises there. This has had the teak removed in 04'. I am looking for information from owners or anyone who has been on one and sailed. What do they sail like? How is living aboard? Is the interior wood blessing or a curse? Areas to look at during inspection that could cause concern and so forth. They look like well built, comfortable cruiser at a reasonable price. Any info would be helpful.

It is the first big boat I sailed on. In the San Francisco Bay it was stable and comfortable. I went on to buy an IP 38 and felt that they were very similar in feel and comfort level and handled similarly under power and sail. I like them.

Classic heavy cruiser. classic layout incl chart table. eng space a bit small. watch for leaks around the skylight and chainplates and heh everyplace else.

CONS: yes the teak decks yuk, and the dark wood does burn my brain.
