Hunter Legend 40 Quality

I am considering putting in a bid (conditional upon satisfactory survey by my surveyor) for a 1990 Hunter Legend 40. She appears to in great shape, had some thorough upgrades, but she is a bit older than what I had in mind.

Therefore, if anyone here has experiences with the standard and quality of this model, I will greatly appreciate your input, for example, general quality as compared with other similar off-the-rack yachts from that period, any known flaws or weaknesses (or safety issues) to be aware of and to check thoroughly, and any other knowledge worth sharing?

For clarity, I already know how it sails.

Thanks a lot.

Re: Hunter Legend 40 Quality

I have a friend with a 1989 Hunter Legend 40. He and his two sons just sailed from Texas to Florida. He did a very good write-up about the boat on his blog. Go to bfsshop.com and click on smacktalk. Top right, click on How We Got to Hunter.

Huge fan of the Hunter Legend 35. I personally haven't sailed a 40, but I know two couples who cruise on Legend 40's and they love them.
