It can be pre installed the wiring DC AC, and in the last moment forget the idea, or its a old wiring installation and the genset die in the past.. Do you check in the cockpit lockers? aft lazarette?

Re: Hunter 466...missing generator???

Did you follow the wiring and plumbing to see where it ended up?

Did you try to start the generator and follow the sound?

It wouldn't suprize me if they install the wiring on all the boats and just don't instal the unit itself unless it's ordered. It's a whole lot easier to instal everything and leave it unhooked up than to try and go back and instal it later if the owner changes his mind.

The generator would have been installed between the two aft cabins behind the main engine. This is based on our experience with a hunter 460.

I don't know about Hunter, but RV's, it's real common for them to be "generator ready" if ordered that way, my 5th wheel was, hobbs meter, fuel tank, wiring and all. It does make things easier if you chose to install one.

Do the operating controls say "generator" or "flux capacitor"???

If it's like the one in my boat (not a hunter), which is mounted behind and above the engine you just contort your body into an unnatural state and hope your arms are long enough.
I can do the regular maintenance on it but major work would require some serious effort, or a smaller person. To remove it would require removing the engine first.

Re: Hunter 466...missing generator???

I find this thread so freaking funny :-)

I don't know where the standard generator is mounted in a 466, but if you can not find it or it's panel I bet it doesn't have one. BTW - I bet all the larger Hunters that have an optional generator have the breaker and wiring already installed (my 2001 410 does).

If you really what to know you should ask a group that may know the answer

I'm flabbergasted that someone can't look at every generator sized hole on a 46' boat in about 5 minutes to see if there is one there. Surely must be faster and more reliable than the internet.

There is great access to the space. If there is no generator, I think they put shelves there

Took my friend and I 4 hours to find the water heater on his newly acquired used Bene 38, they really used their imagination when they installed it. I won't even go into finding one of the batteries.
This was a French built, American commissioned model, it has some weird quirks and information was sketchy. Trying to get the draft depth based on the serial number was impossible prior to purchasing and since it was in the water he actually had to put on a mask and snorkel to find out.
Sooooo, I don't find it so far fetched that someone might be asking about a generator on a boat they've only seen a short time.
The factory doesn't always have the exact answers.
