Hi everybody. I'm looking for a Hunter 34 (1983 to 1987) primarily for cruising. Any advice on the boat or on finding a good one will be most appreciated. I'm leaving my email below not to over crowd the post. Thanks in advance. Ted tedtorca at gmail com |

We sailed an '83 H34 in the Bahamas/Caribbean for 2 1/2 years. IMHO, and in Good Condition, they are well suited for this use. Typical issues are not much different from other boats: mast step, port, and hatch leaks. However, these boats are now all over 20 years old, so condition is critical and you want a good surveyor. These were very popular boats and you shouldn't have much trouble comparison shopping. Nevertheless, most were not used for serious cruising and are unlikely to be particularly well equipped for this use. This can be a good thing, but either way you will likely want to add significant cruising gear. Also, many of these boats came with alcohol stoves - if the Bahamas/Caribbean are your intended cruising grounds, plan on converting to propane. For more info, go here: Hunter 34 owner reviews Also, if you wind up with a Hunter 34, everyone who seriously cruises these boats cancels the monster dinette table and converts the starboard salon seats to a U with a smaller table or none at all - this was a standard original conversion. There is also the Home Theater option: Home Theater seating |

| Location is not an issue
I'm located at Toronto, ON, Canada however location of the boat is not an issue... I have a lot of unused air miles... I prefer to find a boat around the Great Lakes area or with water connections to the GLA since I prefer to motor/sail instead of loading to a truck...
