The hulls i do now are for
commercial vessels which can cost upwards of 3 grand depending on how long they go between
maintenance. One call over the summer the owner said his scallop
boat was running way too hot and asked me to clean the
keel coolers. It was so bad the
marine growth made its way into the lazarrette and
engine room. I must have removed about 12 thousand lbs of mussels that were hanging 4 feet from the
hull. The
captain called me from his sat
phone a few days later saying he gained 3 plus knots and used half the
fuel he normally ate through.
