That has to be one of the dumbest designs I have ever seen.
Imagine being half way accross Lake Washington and the winds pipes up to say,,, 5 knots. You'd be screwed. You would end up being pounded on one of the floating bridges. Probably cause traffic problems too. Besides he should use a recumbent bike and be in the bow, kind of like a figurehead.

Go buy yourself a Nimble 20.
They are cheap, tough, cant sink, self righting, take lots of wind. They draw 14" with the board up, about 4' with it down.
I've had one for years. I've got thousands of coastal sea miles on it. Sailed it all over Puget Sound, Desolation sound, Lake Mead, Lake Powell, Columbia River, etc., etc.
I've had more FUN with this little boat than any of the others I've owned.
