Help with davit block and tackle plus bracket

I bought a used dinghy davit at a boat show this weekend and need some parts. It only came with one block and tackle and I'm trying to find another but this is all new to me. Can anyone tell me where I can get one similar to this one, maybe part number if possible, its has what looks like 5/16" line. I also need two brackets like the ones in the picture but the only ones I can find are from outside the US and shipping is as much as the part. Thanks

Re: Help with davit block and tackle plus bracket

You probably won't "find another block and tackle" advertised anywhere. You just buy the appropriate blocks and rope and make up your own.

They are old Ronstan blocks (RF 1256 and RF1257). Ronstan have since changed their model numbering.

You probably need one each of their 51200 (1256 replacement) and 51210 (1257 replacement).

You can get them and a suitable length of 5/12 (8mm) double braid rope from any marine chandlery.

Can't help with the brackets.

Re: Help with davit block and tackle plus bracket

Thanks StuM, I understand now. I'm going to look and order some tonight. I ordered the brackets last night but now I'm wondering if it would be better to drill a hole in the stanchion and davit and bolt them or if that would weaken them.

Don't drill and bolt! Use brackets.

Garhauer sells the brackets on their site. It's easier to call them in California.
