Help Needed - Tartan 26

Hi everyone, this is my first post here and I am quite the novice.

Me and the wife are looking a sailboat. We have looked at quite a few, but have found a Tartan 26 that is in excellent shape.

The owner wanted 4999 for it and we have him down to 3800. Does this sound like a good deal? Where can I find info on a Tartan 26? I have searched the internet and come up with allot of models, but VERY little on a 26. From what I can tell, there were only a few made.

Picking the experts brains,,,,,Is this a good deal and a good boat? It has been upgraded with a new diesel that run perfect.

As I have said, we are both new to sailboats and need some advise.
Thanks!
Dan

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Dan.

I see (2) T26's asking $5,500 & $3,000 here
Tartan sailboats for sale by owner.

Here’s one for $2,500 Cdn
Tartan 26 - St. Catharines Sailboats For Sale - Kijiji St. Catharines Canada.

With a new diesel, yous could be priced about right at $3800.

They were designed by Tom Norton, and (about 71) produced from 1971 to 1973.

They carry a New England PHRF of 234

You can compare it to other similar boats here

Best of luck!
