Help Identifying Sailboat

Hello all,

I am new to the forum though I've been checking in on it as a guest for a few years.

I'd appreciate anyone's help identifying this sailboat, which the current owner (daughter of the late captain) seems to believe to be a 30ft Maurice Griffiths motorsailor. I could not find any design by MG that looks anything like it and this is the only picture I have...

Thanks
David

Re: Help Identifying Sailboat

I looked at the Maurice Griffith, according to what i read he designed his boats for home production. That being said, the builder could make any number of modiciaftion that depart from the intended design. To my eye, the rise and chines do resemble a Griffith boat. The closest match i found was the "Riptide"

"After World War II, no one, in the English speaking world, did more to make the sport of Yachting available to those of modest means than Maurice Griffith. Before the wide availablity of less expensive production fiberglass yachts, his designs, many of which were published in 'Yachting Monthly' magazine, were conceived for the amateur builder using inexpensive materials"

I hope this helps.

Re: Help Identifying Sailboat

I checked on saliboatdata.com but could see no flush deck Maurice Griffiths designs. I suspect this is not a MG at all... the thin stern is not common-looking and might be useful (to somebody) in identifying the designer, I hope.
