Kokomo is not a bad name for a boat, though neither is Orion.

Though you may not believe in luck, you might believe in drinking and parties! What I would suggest, is go online and find one of the (many!) odd and bizarre boat renaming rituals to be found there. Then, on launch day, gather a few friends and pleasant nearby drunks and throw an outlandish ceremony. I did that for the launching of my boat, and everyone who was there had an insanely good time. Wearing dixie-cup sailor hats and brandishing huge smiles, we gave Neptune libations (poured booze into the sea) re-dedicated the boat with a christening, toasted the old owners and the four winds, etc. etc. It was a lot of fun.

As a matter of fact, the ocean and winds have been forgiving and cooperative each day we've taken her out, and she's handled marvelously. Being a big believer in luck, but not a loser by any measure of the term, I am claiming that it was our respectful deliverance of a pint for Poseidon that has resulted in our fair winds and following seas.

Good luck with your vessel!

Wink LUCK

In New Zealand they drive on the wrong side of the and I stepped out in front of a bus and I sensed it and jumped back.. In November I was shot 6 times in Panama 9mm then drove 5 miles to the hospital. No permanent injuries. We crashed landed an small airplane in the mountains of Oregon, landing on the railroad tracks was the only landing zone in the forest and trees, I lost an engine on take-off at Sunriver airport in twin engine plane and man handled the plane to keep performing..

Is it luck or devine intervention? I hope its not luck because I have run out of it I think.

Sounds like you live an adventurous life. Perhaps a good name for you new boat would be Skin In The Game.

Cool Adventureous

On the internet I was talking to a Colombian girl and I told her I liked Adventure.

Somehow the translation got mixed up. She told me flat out that she was not going to by my adventure. I laughed over that one.

My next adventure "THE SEA IS CALLING ME"

I always liked that song, Kokomo.

Whatever you do, don't name it after your (current) girlfriend!

I had thought of naming mine after my first girlfriend "Kristeen Ann". But thought that I might someday have to explain the name to a new girl. Decided against that name.

Lightbulb Had a boat named "Someday"

I could not think of a name that fit the boat...so I kept saying to people, "I've got to name that boat someday.........the light bulb went off one day.

I don't usually like giving other people advice about their boats' names; after all, it's your damned boat, not mine, so why are you asking me?

But, considering your post, a few possibilities come to mind:

Beating the Odds

Nine Lives

Russian Roulette

Still Kicking

Slow Learner

But still: name the boat what you want, Man. Then live with it.

Fair Winds,
Jeff

You sound very lucky, with what you have gone through. I dont think I want to ride with you, so how about "Charmed" or "nine lives" Try this site Lucky W Amulet Archive: Good Luck Charms, Magic Talismans, Protection Amulets They have 100's of lucky terms.

I like it, we will be watching for Kokomo in all the port we stop in.

I vote yes. The song says it all.
