Gulfstar 37 and 39

I am looking at buying a boat and Gulfstars 37 and 39 came to my attention.
Does anyone have any experience with them? I am interested in sailing along the East Coast and perhaps down to Caribbean in the next 2-3 years. Safety for family cruise as well as seaworthiness are on my priority list.

We had a gulfstar 37 back in the late 80's. I can't remember the build year. We had it for approx 5 yrs and during that time we sailed it up and down the Calif coast and then to P.V. Mexico and back. It was a very seakindly boat. Very comfortable. Not particularly fast but capable. The only significant problem that I can remember was with blisters.
