Got my sights set

Looking to purchase a boat to do some long distance cruising in the next couple of years. I have my sights set on two boats, a passport 515, or an oyster 53. I require a boat with 6 berths as we are a family of five. My husband is still busy with his career so that is the delay, plus we move around. Getting a boat into dubai is an issue...then there is really nowhere to go. So I wait....

Re: Got my sights set

Have you been able to tour the boats yet? We looked at an Oyster 485, Taswell 49 and Bowman 48. Each has their pluses and minuses but for now the Oyster is in the lead. We were scheduled to see a Passport 470 but when we arrived at the broker's office, he said it was under contract so he wouldn't show it.

Re: Got my sights set

I have been on the passport 47 and 51, fine boats. I have not been on an oyster but seen pictures and know of its reputation for quality. For us it will be what is available in our price range when we are ready to pull the trigger. We have kept Thom Wagner at passport yachts busy answering questions for over five years now....

Re: Got my sights set

Another year...
My husband and I had the boat conversation the other day. The result was predictable...wait another year. A bit frustrating but makes sense with what is going on in our lives. So in the meantime I am working on yacht club membership and have added myself to their volunteer list. If I can't own a boat of my own I can spend as much time on them as possible!
