I decided to build it with old growth, VG Doug Fir.
I want to keep this boat as original as I can - kind of like an old antique car.
The wood is flawless, tight grain, no knots, no pitch
pockets - 30' lengths - only one scarf joint - 24'' to 1''. We pickled the wood with ethylene glycol, glued it up with West, fastened with silicon bronze. Coated with 2 coats 105/207 West and I'm building up with McCloskie's spar varnish
- 4-6 coats ought to do it.
is going to rig it - Navtech fittings.
I'm going to paint
the top 3' white just for the hell of it.
I'm thinking on sage green trimmed in satin black for a hull
color - maybe.
