Good Boat Needed !

I am just about ready to pull the trigger, the gun is half cocked. Right now I am starting in earnest my search for a boat.

Need - 33-40'
Liveaboard
Boat budget total with retrofit $70,000 This can be $35,000 purchase and $35,000 work to be done or any combination. I believe this is a reasonable figure. (Yes/No?)

Anyone have a boat to fit on the East/Gulf Coast? It does not HAVE to be blue water, but it would be nice. I don't plan on crossing oceans, but plans can change.

Nice website, nice boat it looks like, but amateurs as far as salesmanship is concerned.

In todays real world, anyone selling a significant priced object (car, house boast etc.) and not including a price is silly.

There are many, many and many more thousands of boats out there that include the price.

Why in the world of whoever you may call holy would one be enticed to "email for price" on this one? It ain't that special.

BTW, I have managed used car vehicle centers and have sold thousands of used cars over the years. All my ads always had prices in them... there is no car or truck special enough not to.

Amateurs.

Rant mode is now off!

Re: Good boat needed!

And if the price is > my budget, I have just wasted time.

Or do they want to know what kind of car I drive before they tell me the price?

Re: Good boat needed!

They're probably hoping people will inquire based on the boats experience and reputation, not the price...

anyway, here's a nice Tartan 37 that will go wherever you want, its well equipped, not much a refit needed (if any, depending on your tastes), $35k

I'd also take a close look at this Pearson 10M (33'). it's well outfitted for cruising with tons of recent upgrades, including a new motor. $25k

Re: Good boat needed!

I've been looking at that Tartan for about 6 months. I have it bookmarked.

Soft spots on deck, broken/removed center board. Some work, but in the budget type stuff.

Re: Good Boat Needed !

If your deal falls through for any reason, this is a sweet deal on a Morgan 382. I have one and I love it. It is a great sailing boat and many are used as blue water cruisers.

Re: Good Boat Needed !

Hi,

Have a quick look at Pearson 365 boats.

My friend has been living aboard one with his girlfriend for a time now. He got the boat cheaply in the US and then they sailed across the pond. I like their boat very much and it looks good price/quality.

Re: Good Boat Needed !

I have looked at both the Morgan 38 and the Pearson 365. Good boats, both of them. And I almost bought a Pearson in Kemah, Tx. But this Aloha 34 is just too much. I can't find much bad to say about her, except I couldn't find an EPIRB in the equipment list. She is really a good boat with a fine lineage. The Brokerage has a good reputation as does the Agent I am dealing with. I will be going to Annapolis ASAP and will send back pictures.
