Glander motored to Buccaneer Club

After a month of working on the engine charging system and fuel injector at the PO's dock, we loosed the dock lines and headed out into Mobile Bay for the short trip up to it's new home at the Buccaneer Yacht Club. thanks to those who offered help from this forum. It was a beautiful day, clear skys, and almost no wind. The Westerbeke 4-91 started and ran perfect. The 1975 Glander 33' steered fine and I was so pleased as we headed out into the Bay. With only a 36" draft we made it fine in the channel into the club harbor. I slowed and tried reverse to see how she handled as I wanted to back into the slip. It didn't seem to back up hardly at all, so I put the bow into the slip. We secured bow and stern and added 2 spring lines. A successful first trip. A fellow sailor at the club looked her over and said it looked better than he thought it would for a free boat. He offered suggestions on painting the topsides which I will be painting soon. Soon another fishing boat cruised by and I overheard one tell another that sometimes sailboats that sink are restored, I think he was referring to the condition of our boat's exterior. I had to laugh. Before I left it for the night I installed a new bilge pump and found a few more projects which I will be asking advice on this forum. Look forward to bringing this great old boat back to being a useful cruiser and lots of fun for our family.
