Too bad. Classy looking boat. Hope someone ends up taking it out of there. At least the stick looks good, which is worth something. Unfortunately, this is the definition of a 'project starter boat,' which is kind of a defeatist concept to start with.

I sincerely hope somebody, somewhere saved this boat. Hate to think of something which was hand built by craftsmen undergoing the chainsaw for lack of effort. If I was in California, she'd be in a new home already.

I hear that particular strain is confined to the South American subcontinent, particularly in the bars near near marinas.

Met the previous owner earlier this year. Nice guy but broke and losing heart talking about moving on. He said she needs some new planks...new garboards particularly... and new floors. Told me that he couldn't sail her because the garboards would open up when the mast was under pressure... haven't looked inside. From the outside breaking her up would be unfortunate. Will stop over tonight and see what's up.
Termites? Is the pope waterproof? Right you are Zeehag! We have to get ours tented as soon as we pull out of here but not before, we'd have a new crop within minutes.

Stem is sound, no rot visible in the transom. Garboards and first planks port and starboard need replacement. , rest of the hull looks perfectly fine. She's held her shape. Keel bolts need attention.
No reason that this boat should be destroyed other than that the marina owners want to get rid of her.
There is a storage yard nearby and first class shipwrghts are available and would be more than happy for the work .
It is not an out of reach DIY project for someone with even limited experiance with wood.
Time to act is now. The yard/marina owners are going to strip her and break her up soon.
I'm commited to my current boat and cruising plans otherwise...
