Free Boat

I'm not one to usually pander to the free boat scene..but this one might be different.

Sounds like there is a sad ending to a gallant attempt here and possibly a gallant and heartfelt offering by someone one on the short end of life's rope passing his dream on to to someone worthy of it.......maybe not and its like all other free boats...a nightmare as well.

I have not looked at it but it is close to me so I could if anyone is genuinely interested.

Newbies... This is a complex boat so pleas don't think this is not going to cost 10"s of thousands to finish...and waste my time..

Ya...it Is definitely an SA crowd type boat ..I should have posted it there instead....Hate going there though..

I might be interested. If you're itching to see her and want to take some photos and assess what is needed to complete her, pm me or post results here, Scott. But, don't waste your time on my iffy interest's account. If she could be completed for 20k ... and was not an awful liveaboard, then yes, perhaps. If she's just an uncomfortable racing machine, fuhgeddabowdit.

Thanks, Scott! I am a bit intrigued. The increased speed would be nice, but the 8' beam gives pause, and the canting keel. If reliable it would be the great enabler for stability. I have long wanted to have a water transfer system or the like, on each beam, to cut the heel and increase the speed on long tacks. I will search around a bit on canting keels and try to get a working idea about them. I wonder if it stuck, what the capsize ratio would look like. I'll look for your assessment.

I just replied to the Ad. Does sound very interesting. Has anybody been sent pictures of this boat yet?

I built a cedar strip skiff a few years ago. So the whole concept really interest me.

which it sounds like, it has a round bottom double ended hull with a cantering winged keel that is hung thru a hole with blocks and rope. It's strip planked with 2" X 1/4 or 3/8" strips.

The question is; was this designed by a Marine Architect? Or is it some lay person's idea of a good design. It sounds quite interesting and I think it should go like stink!

I am actually more than a little bit interested. I wonder what the headroom in the cabin is? Not the first question to ask, I know , but I am sick of stooping.
