Fisher 37

Anyone had any sailing experience on a Fisher 37 and what problems to look out for in equipment on a older model

I have not sailed a Fisher 37 but I have sailed both a Fisher 25 & 30 both of which sail very well and ketch rigged.

If you want speed forget them, if you want a good sea keeping boat then there are few better, I still got the 30' up to 7.4 knot under full sail only in only an F5.

I specialise in 'Pre Buying Inspections' of Colvic Watsons only, but at special request I have done a few Fisher 25's, Fishers can be prone to some osmosis and this should be looked out for normally found towards the stern.

All are professionally built but some can look dated internally, rigging should be especially looked at,also watch out for any that have been re-engined and are not now underpowered.

Re: Fisher 37

Traveled with a friend who had one. Good boat, but he motored/ motor-sailed most the time.

Re: Fisher 37

I think they are awesome little ships. Reliable motors, built for the heavy weather, warm dry pilothouse, plenty of space. There are not many good ones out there from what I have seen. Most leak from anywhere there is a seam due to age. Tanks were black steel unless replaced. If you find a good one, buy it. I personally looked at 5 of them for sale in the last year and they all were beyond reasonable repair in my opinion. Prices were all over the place- one sold for around $40k which was the best deal, but needed major overhaul.
