First boat, first request for help...

Hello. I recently purchased a "fixer-upper" 1977 Catalina 27 dinette model - my first sailboat. Unfortunately the dinette table, table support post, and cushions are all missing. I am looking for advice on how best to replace these items. I have had no luck in finding any of these items in used condition in my searches on the internet nor at the few marinas that I've checked. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?
I had the thought that maybe I could fabricate (as much as possible) these items myself, if I need to, and was hoping that maybe someone out there could give me some dimensions and suggestions for materials best suited for such a project. Of course pictures would be great as well.

A basic setup would use something like this Garelick pedestal and maybe 1/2" ply (or any type of wood) for the table.
You can usually find those pedestals on ebay for cheaper, or source something from a boat or RV that's being parted out (watch craigslist).

Dimensions are entirely up to you. I don't know what the C27 table looks like, but I'm about to shrink my table by about 5" on 3 sides. Point being, make it whatever shape/size you think you'll prefer.

The original table supports and braces were junk. The ones on Catalina direct are a marginal improvement, but not much better. You can make stuff from just standard marine parts that will be miles ahead. How is your standing rigging bonded to your hull- the original was crap, so if it hasn't been changed that is the most important thing to do first.
BTW- making a new table for the dinette is not that hard, and the cushions I would make out of memory foam- when the dinette is lowered into a bed it is the best bed in the boat by far. Slept many a night on my 27 on that bed.
Don't get discouraged- you will learn so much on this boat! And it is a good design.

For the cushions you can call JSI. They are in St. Petersburg Florida and make the cushions for Catalina. They may be able to set you up. Good luck
