Finally Bought a Beneteau Oceanis 37

Hi Guys i'm so excited about my new boat thats arriving in Singapore in April. Bought the Beneteau brand new. I know some of you out there may think i'm stupid to have jumped into something like this, but because i have no experience in sailing, i thought it would be better to get brand new so i know the boat from the beginning. I intend to spend as much time as i can on the boat on weekends for a start, hopefully wife and kids will be fine and then i'll look into living aboard. I've 3 kids wife and me. so 5 onboard. is it possible to live aboard? Thank you for advice.

Congrats, hope you enjoy it and it takes you wherever you wanted to go.

I do get a kick out how you justified getting a new bat instead of a used one. No one ever really knows thier boat all the way until it starts breaking and you have to trace that wire etc.

Welcome to CF Darren. You got a beautiful boat, and one that should serve you well for all your family to live aboard. With no experience in sailing I recommend a few sailing courses and then sticking to many day trips WITH CREW. Find someone at your local marina. Its generally not too difficult. I'd save the family live aboard until your experience level is much higher, else you may scare your wife away for good.

Enjoy the boat. As for 5 living onboard, guess it depends on howe big the kids are.
You might find 37 feet a bit small, but who knows, other's have managed

Congrats on your new boat! I always thought it would be fun to get one new so you could pick how it was initially fitted out.

As for living aboard, we are a family of 4 who live aboard our Bene 393 (3 cabin version). In short, as long as you remember to have fun everything else will fall into place.

I second that emotion... but don't let that spoil your fun...
