Feedback from Tartan 34C owners please

Looking for some feedback on things I should be looking at when checking out a 34c. She's a '78. I already know that the fore deck, or at least a portion of it, needs re-coring, but any other owner tips would be great. Thanks!

Check where the chain plates go through the deck and the Genoa tracks.

There is a very active Tartan group on Yahoo that can be useful should you buy the boat.

Snore, I did look at that group, or at least a group and didn't find much info. There were some old posts of a refit being done by a company in Maine. Not much else.

Go to facebook and join their group there...very active.

I am going through a whole restoration on my 72. Going at a snails pace.

Great boats...good looks, great performance, shoal draft, great engine access.

Re: Feedback from Tartan 34C owners please

There is a Tartan 34 Classic association on line, but it seems to have zero activity. What it does have is really good archives. Articles on lots of mods and maintenance things. Well worth looking at. Everyone shifted over to FB (which I dislike) for discussion. I am also one of the snail pace refits underway for a T34C, but having had several serious cruising boats before, I think this will be an excellent boat. These boats seem to be priced pretty low for what you get. Check out ebay for one on the SF Bay area that is for sale. Needs much money (no engine) put into it, but looks reasonably good and dirt cheep. Good Luck. _____Grant.
