Falado von Rhodos lost off Iceland

Another tall ship lost
Maritime Bulletin - German tall ship Falado von Rhodos sank off Iceland

Details a bit sketchy at the moment, no lives lost thankfully.
Word is that the Icelandic rescue services were surprised at how ill prepared the crew were for the conditions. No details on what they meant by this, could mean a lack of survival suits.
Seems a good job done in the rescue, conditions pretty harsh with 12m seas reported.

Re: Falado von Rhodos lost off Iceland

I'm trying to find another story on it but my internet is woeful this morning.

It seems crazy so many are going down in the last year or so.

Re: Falado von Rhodos lost off Iceland

Good morning everyone,

The link posted here has the most information of the others I looked at. Good on the Iceland rescue guys for what must have been a fairly hairy rescue of 4 adults and 8 children, aged 11-15. Not a huge crew for that vessel.

40 foot seas! What the hell were they doing in that with 4 adults and 8 children?

Amen! Especially since it's probably not quite the "tall ship" at seventy feet ... Glad they're all alive and safe though ...
