Etap 26 1985

I have purchased an Etap 26 lift keel last month just asking round if any other Etap owners out there. She has a electric conversion for keel & saildrive. I am yet to o out & play as weather on East coast uk not excactly favourable.

Sadly the Etap Owners Association is now defunct. No one was prepared to take it over. but there are a small crop of Etaps around Tollesbury Marina who were one of the main dealers.

Re: Etap 26 1985

Many years ago my friend Bob owned an etap. In conversations over coffee he often spoke fondly of that boat. From Bob's recollections I would say you're a lucky sailor.

If you'd like to meet Bob, I wrote an article about him.

Any idea how old the seals in and around your saildrive are?

Volvo recommends replacement of those around the leg at the leg-hull joint at 7 year intervals. Others I've talked to replace them regularly at 10 year maximum intervals. Don't let that go, it may give you an unwanted opportunity to test it's unsinkability.

Also replace the seals inside the bearing housing if they are older than about 3-5 years to prevent water intrusion into the leg.
