Ericson 39 Question

Fella's & Laties, I was hoping to borrow a bit of brain power & or experience regarding the vessel type in the subject line.

Since they don't have quarter berths running aft, like most boats, what's done with the space underneath of the cockpit? I gather that even if there are a couple of tanks under there, there's still a good bit of room. My question is, how much, & how much of it's usable & or accessable.

Does it just wind up being one giant, jumbled, sail locker? What have some of you seen. And if the lockers are of the sort which you have to/can climb into, how small need one be in order to do so without too much gymnastics?
