Ericson 35 Mark III

I found one with the 6' plus keel which has a PHRF of 123. It looks like a pretty nice boat. It's 13,000lbs with ballast of 5200.

Does anyone have more info on the Ericson 35' MIII?

Always kind of liked the 35's. Not sure why they sell pretty low. Maybe someone will pipe in.

Ericson made some good boats, have not sailed the 35, but sailed the 32 and 38 a lot.

There is a very active users forum at

EricsonYachts.org: The Starting Point on Ericson Yachts!.

Plenty of information and advice. The 35-3 is very popular although, like any boat, it has its bugs and peculiarities, which you can learn about on the above site. Nice ones seem to sell for around 45-50k$.

It would be better if a real Ericson expert chimed in, but I know that the MkIII has about 25% more volume for almost the same LOA. It also has a separate shower compartment in the head, with a curtain and everything. Owners seem to like that for getting clean and for hanging dripping FW gear.

The MkII prices are very attractive, although the boats are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Re: Ericson 35 Mark III

So I went and checked out this Ericson 35 MK III, and it's been neglected.

The biggest thing is that the bottom aft part of the keel has been damaged slightly as if it got caught between two large rocks. Say maybe 1-2" up and twisted over 3-4"

The boat draws 6'2" and he took it too the Bahamas and maybe he got in a bit of trouble there.

I'm on my first monohull at the moment so don't have a lot of experience with them

My question is could this have damaged the boat. I didn't look closely for cracks etc because I was not happy with the overall appearance. (but) The guy has dropped the price again down to $28,000
