Elan Impression 434

My wife and I bought a Elan Impression 434 about a year ago and have been very pleased with the design and it's ease of handling for the two of us.
I have searched everywhere trying to get information from others who own and may have cruised with a 434 to get feedback and their opinons, positive or negative on this particular sailing craft. I don't think there are many of this particular model out there. Do any of you know the performance standards or where they would be published. We live in the Med. and this boat is well suited for this area but my question is, have any of you or your friends cruised in other areas of the world in the Elan 434 or crossed any oceans?
Rob Humphrey's is an excellent designer and the Elan factory in Slovenia is first rate. Any of you have any opinions?

Hi Bud
I own a 434 brought last year in the Med and shipped home to Australia, We have sailed about 2000m so far only coastal, but plans for further afield. They are a excellent yacht and will travel across oceans safely.
Cheers

Hi Bud,
We dont own a 434 but love our 384.
We even took the factorys advice and bought Rob Humphrys upgraded rudder and love it. I found this great story of a 434 rescuing another crew in the southern oceans on a race. Its a great read and the boat really preformed well and so did the crew.

I would love the 434 and have seen them sailing and in cruising mode as I know the 434 thats for sale in Aus at the moment. In coomera but its been a lake boat. They sailed up and down the coast and up to Hamiliton Island etc.
Happy Sailing

After three years of ownership, you should be able to offer an expert review.

Here's a couple of reviews from the glossies.

Hi Derek - I have just posted for info on a 384. Do you have the 40HP or the 29 HP Volvo Penta. Also like to hear about the rudder grade.
Regards
John

Hi camgards
I brought a 434 from Croatia and shipped back to the east coast Oz. No comparison at all far superior , the Impressions are known to be one the best European yachts if not the best.
You won't regret it. Is yours Charter or private ?
Cheers

Re: Elan Impression 434

i sailed 384 in med. Nice boats, well insulated, however not too ergonomic. My decently cut feet testimony to that.

Maybe this is issue with every mono.

Cats are so much less prone to harm you. Also I was overboard 2x on mono. No such thing on cats although many more miles & rougher seas on cats.

Re: Elan Impression 434

I have had minimal experience on one sailed one on a 2300nm delivery found to be a well balanced yacht easy to sail and very fast and I would compare them to the salona yachts

Re: Elan Impression 434

My wife and I have owned our Elan 434 called Aqua Queen 5 years ago now and are very happy with her. We bought her in Croatia and after sailing there we brought her down to Greece last year in April. We are currently getting her ready for the summer ahead and now plan to live on her full time, I have added a few creature comforts like a double door fridge. I am looking to start building up a data base of elan 434 owners where we can bounce ideas off each other and learn from others mistakes.
