Duncanson 40

My first post here although I have been reading them for months. Hello all.

I am returning to boat ownership after quite a few decades of chartering.

I am looking at several boat makes - all around 40 ft LOA - with a view to extended cruising two up on Australia's east coast and maybe northern waters eventually. One of the boats I am looking at is the Duncanson 40 pilot house, the aft-cockpit model; most are built in the mid 80's.

I want to tap into the huge well of knowledge on this forum for any views about this particular boat in a crusing role. I know there is no such thing as the perfect cruising yacht although there may well be boats that are perfect for some people.

Most of the current market Duncanson candidates are ketch rigged while one has had the mizzen removed. Seems to me the latter would be potentially a little under-powered. At 26,400 lbs (12 metric tons) this boat no light weight.

Has anyone experience of this boat, especially sailing qualities?

thank you in advance for any contributions.

Hello, just wondering if you sold your Duncanson 40 and how much you are asking if you have not sold it? Any information or pictures would be great. jjrpilot@yahoo.com Thank you very much.
