downeaster 38

I have come across a downeaster 38 in my search, and although not originally one of the designs i had been looking at, from the research i have done they are reputed to be solid cruising boats. This particular one is in great condition and the owner has done a lot of work to her over the 20 years he has owned and sailed her and is willing to do a proper handover to run me through all the systems on board.
I am very seriously considering this as it fits the bill with a lot of the things i am looking for in a cruising yacht.

I was just wondering if anyone out there has had much to do with the downeasters and what they thought.

I delivered one a few times from Florida to New York and back, including once in 24 hours of 40 knots sustained, gusting higher. Great sea boat, very well built, not a light air rocketship. All in all if I wanted a mono it would be on my short list.
