I agree. While I'm not familiar with the area short of doing an overnight at Miami Beach Marina last year I wonder about coming up to the south shore of Virginia Key (Hobie Beach) to get to Strictly Sail?

I have my ticket already just need to figure out the best approach for the 15th as it is the only day I'm attending.

EDIT: opps now I see that Miamarina is across the bay from Virginia Key....

Re: Dinghy dock @ Miami Boat Show?

What about anchoring south of Virginia Key and dinghy to crandon park marina. I called them a while back an they said if you aren't on their mooring balls you can still tie up there for a launch fee of I think it was $17. Which isnt too bad. It's a mile and a half from there to the show. And there's a bus if you can't walk it.

Re: Dinghy dock @ Miami Boat Show?

Notice to all:
The ENTIRE Boat Show (sail and power) is at Marine Stadium on Virginia Key.
I doubt there is a dinghy dock there.

Nothing at Miami Beach Convention Center.

There is water taxi service from Bayside (old Strictly Sail location) and the AAA (American Airline Arena, which has parking)

Free Shuttle Buses & Water Taxi | Miami International Boat Show

Good luck
Marc

Thanks for the info. It’s a great move to put the sail portion over at marine stadium.

Unfortunately we can’t make the show this year. If we could we’d probably do Dinner Key and take the water taxi.

At Marian stadium there is a small beach just to the west. A lot of liveaboards use it, it maybe open. Was three weeks ago.

What would be the best way to get to the show this year from a boat?

Re: Dinghy dock @ Miami Boat Show?

So we managed to get to the show from the boat by anchoring off Virginia Key and taking the dinghy to Crandon Park Marina. However, the lady that confirmed with me repeatedly over the phone that I would be able to use there dinghy dock for a fee was wrong, and we we're almost sent away. I had to basically beg the harbor master to allow us to leave the dinghy there as they were not allowing people to do so during the boat show because they didn't have room for the mass of dinghy to come ashore... Which made no sense to me as they have gobs of space for you to tie up and I didn't see anyone else trying to go there.

So long story short... I have yet to find a good way to get to this show by sea...

The next night we went to Dinner Key's mooring field for the night and was very happy with the staff there BTW. Very friendly and professional.

We found a spot just up from Whiskey Joe’s. No signs, no hassle. High tide arrival got us though.
