Dean Wixom - Nor' Sea 27 CHINOOK - Where are they?

Greetings all,

I'd like to make contact with Dean Wixom who had owned the company that

built the Nor' Sea line some years ago. I'd like to know if he still owns his NS

27 CHINOOK or it's been sold. I can be reached at advenjack@yahoo.com.

Thank you all for any assistance you may provide.

Cordially,
Jack

Dean Wixom sold Heritage Marine in 1980 and went cruising on his own Nor'Sea, “Chinook”.

He put “Chinook” up for sale in 2002.

From Fall of 2002:
"Hello to all. There has been lots of inquiry re "CHINOOK", but no takers, so I must conclude that the price is too high. This is the best equipped NorSea ever built, with over $30,000 in options, custom features and cruising gear. It was built under my supervision when I was the president of Heritage Marine, the original builders of the NorSea. Several years back CHINOOK recieved a 2000 labor hour refit which included a new Diesel. This boat is equipped to go anywhere. Price is now $39,500."

This e-mail address is no longer active.

The phone number is not to the Mr. of this X couple.

The X Mrs is not into sailboating she said.

She supplied a way to contact the Mr.

I did get to speak to the Mr. after connecting a few dots.

He has NO up to date info on D. W. though.

Jack,

I don't have any current info on Dean just now. It's been some time sice we talked. We are in La Paz Baja, Mexico. You might go over to the Yahoo Nor'Sea group at: NorSea27 : NorSea 27 Email DIscussion List

And ask there. I know he has posted there in the past.

Just an idea.

Greg

Chinook is currently for sale by a couple in Nova Scotia, Canada. You'll find it listed on the web. Selling for $ 30,000.00, well equipped and apparently in excellent condition. No trailer for it though, that would cost about another 10 grand I figure.

Yes, we have Chinook for sale in Nova Scotia, but a prospective buyer has put down a deposit. If the sale does not go through, and you are interested, I can notify you. What a beautiful boat...but we've bought a larger boat, so decided we should pass Chinook on to a new owner...

As for Dean, lost contact with him some years ago, and have no current email or other contact info.

Jim,
Good luck in the sale. There's another NS27 available listed through the Yahoo group too. Beautiful boats.

Just lately there have been quite a few Norsea 27s come up on the market. If you join the Yahoo Norsea group, you will be notified when one comes up for sale. Over the past couple of years, the sales seem to come in waves. Long dry spells, and then three or four come on the market.

some will be posted only on the yahoo group which is usually the best place to find one. I got mine from the group and wasn't posted anywhere else, that I'm aware of.

A friend of mine, here in St. John's, Newfoundland, who is very intent on getting a high quality, seaworthy, trailerable boat, was expressing interest in Chinook. But he would require a trailer for her so he can move her to his backyard in the winter. I think to have a custom trailer built for her would cost somewhere in the $ 10 to 12 thousand range. Does anybody know where a suitable trailer, already made, could be found for less money?
