Davits on a Beneteau 393

Can any obliging Bene 393 owner help me out, please?

Are there any factory-installed reinforced mounting points for the fitment of davits on this type of boat, or is it a case of fitting reinforcement pads myself?

If anyone has fitted davits to a 393, can they share their experience, please?

Thanks, Nikki.

This photo might help, if you're looking at KATO davits. The davits have a base, but much of the load is carried by the stern rails, which are reinforced by an extra bracket. Not trying to sell the product, but maybe it's one way of answering the question.

I have looked at the Kato davits before, but they don't suit my needs.
I need davits that can be folded away, so as not to be charged an exhorbitant amount extra for any overhang by my marina!

The ones I had in mind were the Plastimo davits, which can carry 100kg or 160kg, dependant on the model chosen. These have flushmount mounting shoes, which unfortunately do concentrate the load into a small footprint, but do allow the davits to rotate inboard when not in use.

Does anyone have experience of fitting these (or similar) on a 393?

I've got my eye on those Kato davits myself. There's several discussions about various davit options on the Beneteau 393 Yahoo group, you should check it out:

beneteau393 : Beneteau393 Group

It is also a good resource for fellow 393 owners. I've been meaning to read all the old posts there, maybe on a rainy day sometime soon.

By the way, Weaver davits might suit your marina dock space needs. I've heard they work on the 393.

Again, not pushing the KATO davits over any other model, but they do fold away...

I had a 393 it's quite difficult to fit good Davits as the back of the boat needs strengthening one option is to run pillar supports to the swimming platform. The hull as it stands has not got enough strength for the localised stresses.

Re: Davits on a Beneteau 393

Where are you wanting to put the davits and why doesn't this boat have them?
