Cutler Boatyard in Rosebud, Victoria, Australia

Hi folks,

Just discovered my recently purchased ferro ketch was not home built in Port Lincoln. Was talking to the broker today and some other paperwork has come to light suggesting it was built by someone named Cutler with an address in Rosebud.

Anyone familiar with this yard or builder? There is a Lady Cutler yard there, not sure if that's just the mob that run a boat of that name.

Would have been in the mid to late seventies.

There's just the one word 'Cutler' in the builder's name on the Aus Ship Registration.

Love to find out more about our boat. She was called 'Aussie Blue' at the time apparently. 35' Ferro Hartley Queenslander Ketch.

Any info appreciated.

Re: Cutler Boatyard in Rosebud Vic.

Apparently, "Lady Cutler" is a Fishing Boat Charter operation in Rosebud (VIC 3940
Mornington Peninsula).
You might ask them if they know of any boatbuilders of the same name.

That's certainly the right era. Thank you, I'll follow that up.

Cheers

I'll do that. Thanks for responding. Another member has also come up with something.

Cheers

Maybe she was home built - by a bloke called Cutler? (and had to put something in the blank box!).

Re: Cutler Boatyard in Rosebud, Victoria, Australia

I haven't seen the documentation myself, however the broker is quite certain based on what he has found that she was professionally built by Cutler in Rosebud. I'll know more details when I collect the boat and all her documentation. Seems to have had one owner more than I thought. Her home port in AusShipRegistry is Melbourne, but her last two owners had Sydney addresses, the last one lived aboard, the previous owners had a Drummoyne address. Coincidences: I lived in Sydney some years ago, the first few years were in a flat in Drummoyne, and I had family that I visited when I lived in Melbourne, (around the time the boat was built) and they lived in Rosebud. It's going to be fascinating to look into her history.
