Do you have the Warwick design:

or the previous model:

?

If the latter, mine has been repowered with a 75hp Yanmar turbodiesel.

Re: CT 38 from Taiwan ?

Great to see some recent posts from other CT38 owners! I have a 1986 CT38 (Warwick design). We love it, especially under sail - it's a wonderful boat to sail in both light and heavier air. I was also pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it was offshore when we made the trip from Portland OR to Puget Sound last summer.
I hear a lot of comments about the teak decks and we were nervous about them when we bought her 5 years ago. It turns out we love em! They are glued down for the most part so I don't have a gazillion screw holes in my deck and they are actually super easy to clean and care for...
It would be great to hear about any experiences anyone has about canvas/cockpit covers, dingy davits, or other "cruiser comfort" modifications...

Re: CT 38 from Taiwan ?

Its an '82, which is a good and a not so good thing. I would have liked to have some of the options available in the later years like molded in and extra hatches, aluminum toe rail etc. But she's a good solid boat none the less. Click image for larger version

Re: CT 38 from Taiwan ?

Yes the teak deck is original. I brought them back from the grave for one last hurrah. In the next year or so I'm going to peel them off and replace them with Marinedeck 2000 cork composite. I love that stuff. After a few seasons it turns as grippy as an asphalt shingle and looks good too. Its only downside is price. Total Material cost is only a bit less than teak alone, but when the adhesive and caulk are added to the teak cost its clear that I can't redo the deck in teak for the same project cost. Although I would love to. Click image for larger version

Re: CT 38 from Taiwan ?

cool.. I'm a few short years away from replacing mine.. I did replace about 25% of them during my refit but the replacement teak isn't near as robust as the original.
I'll be looking at non teak options..
