CSY Bottom Line 44, looking for info

Hello all. I found some mentions on the web to a Bottom Line CSY 44 sailboat, with a cockpit, designed for use as a sailing fishing boat and it really intrigued me. I have not found detailed information though.

Does any one have information on this boat design? like how and where is the icebox located? what brand? what special changes were made specifically for fishing? How are the fishing lines setup (do they interfe with sailing lines?) etc.

Thanks, I'm just very curious.

Re: CSY Bottom Line 44, looking for info

I owned one of these vessels from 1986 to 1995. I commercially operated the vessel in the Gulf of Mexico fishing out of Cortez, Fl. Later I made the transition to a live aboard dive charter vessel and operated charters to the Dry Tortugas. The boat was completely remodelled by adding 3 tons of lead, refurbishing the ice hold to include a living quarter, and equipping the boat for diving. I sold the boat to a foreign buyer in 1995.

As a fishing vessel the concept was sound, but the design was dependent on external ballast (ice) c a higher than necessary aspect. The boat rolled tremendously and this made finding experienced crew difficult. I utilized a storm sail fastened to the back stay to help steady the boat and avoided fishing in the trough.

I began my fishing career working with Pete Estrup.
