Compression post repair

Just looked at an Irwin 37CC. It seems the top of the compression post is about one inch low. The forward head door has a very uneven gap at the top and the v-berth door will not close because it is rubbing against the door frame at the top. I can see the bottom of the compression post through a very small access panel in the floor but there is no way to reach it or work on it.
Any thoughts?

Re: Compression post repair

Yeah, walk away. If the boat has major structural deformities you're not going to get a accurate or useful diagnosis on the internet.

The deck and coach roof are structural elements. Hard to tell from your description whether the post has been cut down or the roof has bowed up. There could very well be broken tabbing and who knows what else. In those older Irwins it's not unusual to have issues with the deck going soft and the mast sinking, and then owners making strange modifications in an attempt to fix it without really fixing it.
