Columbia 23T help

Does anyone have any experience with a Columbia 23T. Other than hearing that a shoal keels lacks performance while sailing into weather, it is hard to find any information on the boat.

Re: Columbia 23T help

I did. There didn't seem to be any threads from users with first hand experience that answered the concerns I have

Re: Columbia 23T help

Yeah, finding old threads for CF is difficult sometimes. I would assume all the usual old boat pitfalls apply to that boat.... if construction is what you are requesting. As I remember it's a very shallow long keel so... you already know it wont go to weather much. maybe someone else can chime in on it. Not a very well known boat for sure, might be fun for some pocket cruising though!

Re: Columbia 23T help

How safe would a boat with only 800 pounds of ballast be if I was to get caught in heavy air/ weather.

Re: Columbia 23T help

Not sure I would want to be out in one in any kind of seaway. Is this model with a center board? Apparantly it has a 35% displacement, but the draft is real shallow, so what the righting moment is... no idea...
