Plane Sailing, great photos; sure is a nice hull even out of the water. And Graham, thanks for the info on your Nanni repower.

While this thread is still warm, a couple of questions to any Cole 43 owners:

a) Has anyone lowered the keel to check keel bolts, or heard of it done?

b) Is anyone aware of an IMS certificate for any Cole 43 (I'm particularly interested in the stability angle as measured officially, rather than hearsay)?

Martin

Paul, thanks again. It's probably appropriate to send via e-mail; I'll send you my e-mail address via private message. Martin

I just arrived back from the boat with certificates. Opened them all up
and discovered they are IOR not IMS so there is no stability info.

Martin, I found some hand written notes in the boat paperwork.
It looks like someone copying IMS data. It lists LPS=128 degrees.
So i suppose thats the info you wanted.
Paul.

Re: Cole 43 Yachts

There is an early post about this - sounds like a messy job, the OP had to get in there with an angle grinder.

Re: Cole 43 Yachts

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I saw in older post that a guy mentioned a Shipwright called Andrew Raoke in Yamba who was very helpful, however can't seem to get in touch with him. Called Yamba Marina and they don't know who he is

Re: Cole 43 Yachts

I replaced the mast step in Bacardi with the help of Andrew Roake who was ship right at Yamba Marina. I did a Google search and he is now in Queensland. Tambourine.
Bacardi was the first Cole 43 the mast step was a cast aluminium block mounted on a steel frame. The whole structure was corroded and had to be replaced. It was complicated because lead ballast had been poured over th steel frame.
I spent several days on my knees with an angle grinder and chisel removing the lead and through bolts that secured the frame to the Timbers.
Andrew constructed a new frame in stainless.
We also had to trim some off the bottom of the mast because of corrosion.

If you are in Queensland Andrew may be able to help.

Re: Cole 43 Yachts

Past or present Cole 43 owners:
Anyone know what the ideal backstay pressure should be with the hydraulic backstay adjuster?
I have Taurus and just preparing her for a long sail from NSW to Thailand for a refit...
Thanks, Simon
