Re: Check out this Ocean going Machine!

Would love to see it under sail. I have soft spot for Schooners.

Sure you wouldn't prefer something more like this client's boat when you are old and infirm? Better start buying lotto tickets now. Note the incredible artwork and collection of authentic period armor and other Sengoku period works, to match the boat's name.

As I sit in my CAL28 waiting on the rain to break, it occurred to me.... SOME people have too much money!

Don't stress, I would bet you are having more fun than the guy who owns that boat. Maybe not in as much style, but still, you're sailing and he's not...

On that 'many furlers' thing - why is the fore mast so far fore???

Nice boat but looks like another sick rig on an otherwise pretty slick hull.

Schooners often have the foremast pretty far forward, which is part of why they are not great downwind. But I think most of what you are seeing is just the angle the first few pics were taken at resulting in a bit of optical illusion. Look at the pics from off the bow and you will see the foretriangle on this boat is pretty big, for a schooner.
Still, can you imagine tacking that sucker without most of the sails being self-tending? I'd imagine the smart thing to de would be furl a few up, tack, and then unfurl again on the opposite tack. Hoping to get some pics of her under way this summer.

That masters berth eminds me of when I used to support the Sultan of Brunei's fleet. He had a 747 on order for personal use. There was a rack of manuals on a shelf. I asked if those were aircraft manuals. The maintenance chief said no. Those 12 volumes were just for interior.

When I jokingly asked if there was going to be a bowling alley in the cargo bay I was told there was no room becuase the water tanks for the upper deck Jaccuzzi were so large...

Even if I did win the Lotto, I don't imagine myself as the kind of guy to cruise with a "staaahf" to cater to me.

But who knows... Maybe when I am old...

BTW - the pics are great. Dont worry about low comments. People may just be stunned...

LOL-staaahf is good. We all know the Biff and Buffy/ Thurston Howell types! Thanks for that, here's a little more in a more appropriate flavor-

When I worked in Aerospace, We were asked if we could make interior metal trim on a private mid east owned 737. They wanted all the interior trim in Gold. Not plated.. GOLD!

Now that is a pretty boat. Is that the Able Apogee Scoots next door?

I just checked Yacht world and it is. If I had those two boats in my marina, I would never get anything done, I would just sit and stare.

Yea, Scoots is pretty nice. Not that I'd trade my boat for it or anything! There are so many amazing boats in my marina, it does make the evening kayak paddle entertaining. In fact many of the boats pictured so far are actually on my dock, the big boat dock. Herreshoff anyone?

Seriously though, it looks like a trawler that somebody stuck some masts on.
I am curious about ballasting.
