The Cheoy Lees are good boats, almost any Wittholz design properly executed will do what most sane cruisers need. We own a 52
trawler - she just brough us safely through an Atlantic force 9, and she's over 20 years old. The cano sterns seem to be a bit more efficient, and we just like the look. The boats do roll a little, but tend to be far more stable than most unstabilized boats. They tend to be over engineered if anything, not heard of one going down or failing to date. The boats are older now, so the main consideration is a good
survey and not getting caught by a previous owners' "improvements" or a poorly executed
refit that started with the best of intentions. Steer clear of these issues and enjoy many years of incredible cruising.
